How to Ace Your Nursing Interview

How to Ace Your Nursing Interview Many nursing interviewers ask similar questions. Fortunately, that means you can be even better prepared to ace the interview. Here are some of the toughest, and the best ways for you to respond: â€Å"Tell me a little bit about yourself.†Translation: Am I going to want to be your colleague? Are you qualified enough? Personable enough?Answer: Make sure to keep this one relevant to nursing, but add in a few personal details. Show how your personality traits and life goals, apart from making you a real nice person, lend themselves nicely to your chosen career. Focus on your strengths without sounding boastful, and you’ll nail it.â€Å"Why did you decide to pursue a career in nursing?†Translation: Are you really dedicated enough?Answer: Prove yourself. Show your dedication and your commitment, not just how much you love helping people (though that can be a good part of your origin story, your â€Å"I first knew I wanted to become a nurse† moment). Give the bi gger, more passionate picture, and then focus on the details of your hard work and tenacity.â€Å"Tell me what you know about us.†Translation: Have you done your homework? Do you really want to work here, or will you accept a job at any hospital?Answer: Actually do your homework. Research the position and the institution. Read patient reviews or ask acquaintances who’ve worked there. Be knowledgeable and able to make your case about why you belong in this particular hospital.â€Å"Why should I hire you?†Translation: What’s your secret weapon? Will you really be an asset if I hire you?Answer: Show them that you’ve done your homework, and prove that you can be part of the solution to whatever problems they might be struggling with, and also your visions for helping them reach their future goals. Don’t be afraid to be innovative!â€Å"How do you handle pressure?†Translation: Are you good enough to be a nurse in the field, and not just in the classroom? Can you handle everything the job is going to throw at you and keep your cool?Answer: You already have. Or if you haven’t- you have some experience you can tweak to demonstrate that you can take the heat. Show what skills and experience have led you to be a supernurse in any environment, no matter how stressful.â€Å"What are your career goals?†Translation: Are you in this to win this? Will we be able to groom you for promotions? Are you going to stick around?Answer: You want to excel in this position, learn everything you can, and then move to new challenges. But be sure to stress you won’t jump ship as soon as you’ve milked this job for all it’s worth! Show how your personal career goals overlap nicely with the institution’s goals.â€Å"What are your weaknesses?†Translation: Everyone has them. How do you deal with yours?Answer: Resist the temptation to say, â€Å"None! I am absolutely perfect; hire me!† Mentio n a couple of weaknesses that show your self-awareness, but also show how you’re already working to strengthen them. Be realistic.â€Å"Are you a team player?†Translation: Are you a diva, or do you realize the importance of teamwork in medicine?Answer: Again, prove it. You have plenty of team experience, and you’re smart enough to recognize how crucial it is for good patient care. Have an answer prepared to show it.â€Å"What are your salary requirements?†Translation: Will you accept the range we’re prepared to offer?Answer: Do a bit of research into the department so you get a sense of what other nurses are making. Avoid an exact figure; give a broad range. And if you truly would be happy with the low end of their range, stress that the position is more important to you than the pay.â€Å"Do you have any questions for us?†Translation: Are you just making the rounds, or are you really interested in working here?Answer: Ask the questions you probably have! The ones you’d have if you were to get the offer: What’s the nurse-patient ratio? How long is the orientation stage? Are there any additional educational opportunities? Whatever interests you most and shows your initiative.

Corporate Compliance to Risk Management Research Paper

Corporate Compliance to Risk Management - Research Paper Example The framework proposed by COSO helps companies to develop a successful and effective plan which meets the requirements and risk areas stipulated by COSO. The bigger the risk is, the greater is the prospect for gain-and for loss. Risk management plays an important role for a Pre-Paid Phone Cards company allowing management to predict and foresee possible dangers and solutions. Strategic objectives of the risk management plan are to cover all areas of Pre-Paid Phone Cards service and reduce risk situations and their negative impact on the company. Operations objective is to recognize that when a task is being done for the first time, the risk of not achieving budget, schedule, or specification targets is substantial. Also, the nature of new technology is that its development faces more than the usual levels of uncertainty. Reporting objective is to meet the established procedure and report all risk satiations. Compliance objective is to respond effectively to rules and regulations, financial reposting and corporate laws (Broder, 1999). Identify risk. MGM600-0803B-02 Applied Managerial Decision-Making - Phase 4 Essay - 1

MGM600-0803B-02 Applied Managerial Decision-Making - Phase 4 Discussion Board - Essay Example The equation for a regression analysis analyzes the relationship between one dependent variable and one or more independent variables (Curvefit 2008). In the regression equation, the dependent variable is modeled such that it is a function of the independent variables, constant, and an error term which is an estimation of the variations in the independent variable. A simple regression equation is one which tries to explain the dependent variable with a single explanatory for variable. For example, we know that the level of income of an individual can be explained by education, position, race, gender, and even age. When we would like to isolate the effects or relationship of income with race alone, this is called simple regression. However, when we take two or independent variables such as education, age, and race, then it is called multiple regressions (Curvefit 2008). Regression analysis has been a very useful tool in economists who are closely watching the relationship between variables. Regression analysis is used to forecast the GDP growth of the country by looking at the historic GDP data (Regression Analysis 2008). It is also used to determine the relationship between foreign exchange rate and the money supply in a given country. In business organizations, regression analysis is frequently utilized in order to make important decisions like pricing strategies (Regression Analysis 2008). WidgeCorp’s entry to the cold beverage sector should further be assessed by looking at the attractiveness of the market and the potential that it has in serving the customers. The company’s decision of coming up with a forecast of its monthly sales will be beneficial in decision of production levels. The monthly sales can be forecasted by using monthly sales as the dependent variable. In the regression equation, independent variables should include the amount investment in advertising, season, and time. The amount investment in advertising is important

Ideas of Ethnicity from the Concept of Nation Essay Example for Free

Ideas of Ethnicity from the Concept of Nation Essay In order to start this question, it is necessary to try to explain some of the phrases within it. Multi-culturalism, nation and civic are all concepts that intertwine in different ways. Ethnicity and civic ideas in the nation can exist together and one incorporates the other. Multiculturalism is the civic nation in so far as a nation is a modern, liberal concept but as a general rule, the states attempt to assimilate immigrants and national minorities into the culture of the dominant ethnie (multi-culturalism) have been met with little success. For example, the state has managed to establish a national system of education and compel most minorities and immigrants to put their children through its uniform schooling system but on the otherhand, modern nations are civic and ethnic which constitutes multi-culturalism. Modern nations are both civic and ethnic and therefore multi-cultural in theory however we shall see that multi-culturalism as a theory does not work to its full definition. The term,Multi-cultural for Kymlicka represents a broader way to encompass a wide range of non-ethnic social groups which have been excluded or marginalised from mainstream society. 1 For the purposes of this essay it means multi-clturalism which arises from national and ethnic difference. ENTER PG NO Another form of multi-culturalism is when different cultures insist that all citizens have the same relationship with the state which is a model that allows for a degree of diversity in terms of language and culture rather than seeking to assimilate different ethnic groups. (Wieviorka 1998. ) The theory of the national state has generally assumed a civic form of nationalism. The ideal of the sovereignty of the people has always had a clear vision of the nature and boundaries of the people who make up the citizens of the state. When one brings the idea of ethnicity into the debate, a conflict arises from the internal contradiction at the heart of the national state between a universal conception of citizenship with its uniform rights and a conception of the people and the ethnic basis where national minorities demand their own rights as members of a community that shares a history which marks themselves off from the dominant ethnie. Thus causing a difficulty in forming a multicultural nation. It is often assumed that ethnic communities in the nation breeds exclusiveness and intolerance to the concept of nation however there is no one to one relationship between ethnic nationalism and exclusiveness for some ethnic groups live peacefully alongside one another such as the Catalan and Czech movements. Confession :: essays research papers

con ·fes ·sion   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã¢â‚¬Å"Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.† This simple phrase from Roman Catholic dogma conjures up images of famous Hollywood confessions and dramatizations, but the real root of the phrase has a much more obscure past. Not only found in modern Catholicism, the confession of sin, along with the confession of faith, can be seen in religious practices throughout the world. The simplest definition Webster gave the confession of sin is â€Å"a written or oral statement acknowledging guilt, made by one who has been accused or charged with an offense† (Bookshelf). However, Webster also recognizes the less thought of definition of the confession of faith as â€Å"an avowal of belief in the doctrines of a particular faith; a creed† (Bookshelf).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The double-edged meaning of the word â€Å"can be partially explained by the etymology† (Eliade 1). The word confession derives from the Latin word confiteor which means to â€Å"confess a sin or fault,† but in a more general since the word can also mean â€Å"to acknowledge or avow.† Thus, with the understanding of the Latin root, one may speak of the sinner who confesses his sin, or of the martyr who confesses his faith. Regardless of which usage is being applied, the religious rules of the confession must be followed. It must take place in front of a recipient, or one who hears the confession. â€Å"In many cases, it is preformed in the interest not only of the one confessing but also of the community to which both the confessing person and the recipient belong† (Eliade 1). With an understanding of the underlying meanings of the confession one may begin to explore the development of the phenomenon and its function in modern religion.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  A common way to view the confession of sin is as one part of the entire sacrament of penance. The confession along with the elements of prayer, sacrifice, and penance lead up to the act of absolution or forgiveness ( Gentz 280). In early Christian religion the confession began as a â€Å"ritualized group avowal of sin as part of Sunday worship;† moreover, in Judaism it developed into the annual congregational confession of sins known as Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement (Gentz 290). Both examples of early confession resemble today’s modern idea of publicly professing one’s faith and acknowledging one’s sins before a recipient, in this case being the congregation as a whole, but it wasn’t until later in Eastern and Western Christianity that the individual confession emerged.

Bernini

The Baroque period is emphasized by drama and theatricality. The sculptor Bernie exemplifies this in his works. How does the Coronary chapel exemplify drama and theatricality? Bernie designed every aspect down to the last detail. What do you think of this style? Panoramic view (make it full screen): http:// www. Phantasmagoria. Com/502/Rome/Santa_Maria_Della_Aviators Some details: http:// www. Removable. It/Capped. HTML I really like Bering's style and I appreciate his attention to detail. The Coronary Chapel is very bright on the inside from the virtual tour I took. I like that and I think this is on repose. He wanted an open themed chapel that allows light in because the light signals that this is an open place and that you are welcome to come in. The floor to me is also beautiful and I appreciate the designs he displayed. The focal point is right in the middle and the patterns on the floor are concentric and move out from this point. Also every wall you look at has some sort of pat tern or color. It is a bit clustered but I like it. It is complex and works very well for him. You can spend all day looking at something new and that is the detail I like. Not many places built today have this same detail.Once again with the bright colors it is very welcoming. He draws your attention and wants you to come in and explore. The walls look to be stone and this gives it an earthy feel as well as an elegant flow. It looks to be rich and expensive and the artist did not cut any corners when they made this chapel. I like this and once again the attention for detail is amazing to me. The ceiling is even covered to display their creativity and skill. People come in Just to see the beautiful stone walls and they know that this building was built with the very best materials of this time as well as for today.

Meaning of Life and Success Essay

The most important thing in my life is thought to be happiness. In order to achieve success you must adjust to very situation with ease. Success is it the process of doing a task and receiving a positive result, or is it simply achieving one’s own personal goals. According to The American Heritage dictionary success is, â€Å"the achievement of something desired, planned, or attempt†. The word success itself means to achieve your goal or get the point that you looking for. Some people success meant to them to be rich or to finish school and work high pay jobs. But for me success means more than that. Success means to me have peace and love; also to get married and to enter heaven after this life is over. To be sure, everybody who has peace and love is a successful succeeding person. Without peace and love there is no success. You wake up in the morning and you don’t worry about anything that day; that is success for me, because the life is short, you don’t have to be concerned about anything. Also if you have a family that loves you and is always happy for what you are doing, that is success. In addition, if you take care of your old parents and they love you and they live a happy life, which is success for me. Additionally, success is also something that is viewed differently in the eyes of everyone. This is because success means doing what I have always wanted do being where I have always wanted to be. My goal in life is to eventually get married to a good wife and have many happy children and if I accomplished that, then I could view myself as having success. Lastly, meaning of success for me is to enter the heaven after this life is over. We know that life in this world is too short, and we don’t know when we are going to die and what we are going to get after this life. That is a simple answer; do good deeds in this world and you are going to be successful in the life hereafter. That means you enter the heaven for sure and that is big reward from God to his mankind. There is no dying after this life; that means if you don’t enter the heaven you will be the loser and who ever go in the heaven will be the winner. In conclusion, I still agree with the idea I presented: however according to the dictionary and many other resources, success means to them achievement. But according to my own opinion success means to believe the ones of God, and to have peace and love in your whole life, and to get in heaven the life hereafter.

Blind Side Essays

Blind Side Essays Blind Side Essay Blind Side Essay Many factors play a role in an individuals success in life. The environment one is raised in also holds substantial value. The environment provides exposure to things that will, in turn, develop determination. Although the environment is important, determination is crucial. There are many people in the world who experienced horrible environments growing up; yet, they became incredible successes. Even though an individual may not come from an ideal environment, there are many other factors that will determine how successful he or she will be in life. The movie The Blind Side illustrates this perfectly. The environment that an individual grows up in definitely plays a role in the shaping of his future and success. Michael Oher was not lacking determination; he had no concept of what it was. As a result of the environment of his upbringing, Michael knew nothing else but the projects, Child Protective Services, and neighborhoods that were laden with violence and riddled with drugs. He started this journey as a child in many ways. When Michael was provided the necessary environment, he immediately developed determination. The right environment opened Michaels eyes to a completely new world. Above all, the Tuohys did not give Michael the tools; they helped him apply the tools he had. Unquestionably, determination is more important than environment. An individual in the best environment cannot ever be successful without determination. Michaels determination stemmed from him being immersed in the right environment, and as he became more successful, his determination increased. As Michael progressed through the school year, his grades slowly improved; but after Miss Sue began tutoring him, his grades drastically improved. Granted that Michael may have been in the right environment for success, but without his determination, he would not have achieved what he did. Even though Michael was provided an extraordinary environment and fantastic opportunities, without his tremendous determination, he would not have been anywhere near as successful as he is. At the same time, there are several factors that have made me successful in my life. The strongest factor would be determination; of course, environment surely plays a role as well. In fact, without the advantages provided by the environment, things might be drastically different. The environment also provided guidance, and with this guidance, came motivation. Specifically, my entire family is helping me attend school, and their aid is in the form of guidance and motivation. Being eager to learn has always been a strength of mine as well. Learning from my mistakes and the mistakes of those around me, above all, has proven to be extremely important in achieving success. All in all, guidance and motivation from my family, being determined and learning from mistakes has helped me affect my life. Prior to watching the movie The Blind Side, my impression was that environment was not nearly as important as determination; consequently, since watching this movie, it is clear that environment may be as essential as determination. It is as a result of the proper environment that we are provided so many other life necessities such as guidance, motivation, and opportunities. What if Michael had turned down the Tuohys offer for help? Surely, Michael still would have escaped the projects, but definitely would not have been as successful as he is now. He might have ended up like his friend David, who was shot and died on his 21st birthday. To summarize, it was the convergence of many components: the Touhys providing the right environment, opportunities, guidance, and motivation and Michaels ferocious determination that has culminated into Michael Oher deservedly achieving great successes in his life.

How to Return a Value in JavaScript

How to Return a Value in JavaScript The best way to pass information back to code that called a function in JavaScript is to write the function so the values that are used by the function are passed to it as parameters and the function returns whatever value it needs to without using or updating any global variables. By limiting the way in which information is passed to and from functions, it is easier to reuse the same function from multiple places in the code. JavaScript Return Statement JavaScript provides for passing one value back to the code that called it after everything in the function that needs to run has finished running. JavaScript passes a value from a function back to the code that called it by using the return statement. The value to be returned is specified in the return. That value can be a  constant value, a variable, or a calculation where the result of the calculation is returned. For example: return 3;return xyz;return true;return x / y 27;You can include multiple return statements into your function each of which returns a different value. In addition to returning the specified value the return statement also acts as an instruction to exit from the function at that point. Any code that follows the return statement will not be run.function num(x, y) {if (x ! y) {return false;}if (x 5) {return 5;}return x;} The above function shows how you control which return statement is run by using if statements. The value that is returned from a call to a function is the value of that function call. For example, with that function, you can set a variable to the value that is returned using the following code (which would set result to 5). var result num(3,3); The difference between functions and other variables is that the function has to be run in order to determine its value. When you need to access that value in multiple places in your code, it is more efficient to run the function once and assign the value returned to a variable. That variable is used in the rest of the calculations.

The main threat to earn profits in the long run is the risk Essay

The main threat to earn profits in the long run is the risk - Essay Example The risk in this sense comprises of two major elements. The first one is the probability that the system or the entity will fail to achieve its objectives. And the second is the consequences and results of such failure. In any business organization, risk is inevitable. However, how better the organization cope with such risks depends upon the techniques used by the entity for such purpose. The practice and act of identifying, assessing, handling and controlling risk related situations and issues in an organization is known as enterprise risk management. The process of risk management includes identification and tracking of risk associated areas, development of plans for mitigating risk, performance of risk assessment procedures and handling and monitoring risks. Thus, it may be seen that risk management is a very broad term and includes a number of issues being addressed during the application of risk management techniques. Along with identification and assessment of risks, the prior itization of risks is also an important part of risk assessment procedure. Thus, the process of risk management mainly focus on the probability of occurrence of unforeseen events in future and the impact of these events on the capability of the organization to achieve its objectives. ... All these risks threaten the capability of an organization to achieve its objectives. Following are the risks that usually occur more frequently: 1. Systematic Risk: Systematic risk is a risk which cannot be predicted, mitigated or reduced in any way. This is due to the reason that this risk may occur at any time and is completely out of control. Changes in the government legislation or interest rates prevailing in the economy are examples of systematic risk. To mitigate the impact of such risks, it is advised that the organization should remain prepared for the occurrence of such risks at any time and should undertake proper plans to cope with such risk. 2. Non-systematic Risk: These are the risks which occur due to the features of assets. Changes occurring in the management decisions and employees’ strikes are the examples of this type of risk. These risks can be easily eliminated by using the diversification process. 3. Financial Risk: Financial risk rises when the organiza tions heavily rely on the debts and loans. This type of financing is called debt financing. This type of financing increases the liability of the organization as the organization is liable to pay such money back in future. Thus, it becomes necessary for the organization to keep enough reserves so that this money may be paid back in future. Thus, the degree of risk and uncertainty rises overall. 4. Operational Risk: Operational risk is the risk associated with the operational level of the organization. When this risk arises, organizations do not able to perform its operations properly. Thus, operational risk includes risks arising from business operations, information reporting and leadership and management style adopted by the
